How our floor coating system is built
Diamond grinders open the slab and cracks get filled with polyurea. Then the polyurea base coat goes down, flake or silica is hand-broadcast to full refusal, and everything is locked under a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat.

Most garages start and finish on the same day, with our own crew from grind to top coat. Here is how the day runs.
Diamond grind
25-inch planetary grinders open the slab profile, and we dust-extract as we grind. Your garage stays habitable.
Damage repair
Routed cracks filled with polyurea. Pitted and chipped areas patched with rapid-set mortar before any coating goes down.
Polyurea base
First pigmented polyurea coat goes down with squeegee and back-roll. Chip broadcast happens while it's still wet.
Chip broadcast
Vinyl chip broadcast to refusal. You literally cannot fit another flake.
Scrape and vacuum
After the base sets, loose chip is razor-scraped flat and vacuumed. The slab is now level, sharp, and primed for clear.
Clear top coat
High-solids polyaspartic clear locks the chip. UV-stable. Chemical-resistant. Walk on it in about 8 hours, drive on it in about 72.
Cure time
Crew packs up at sunset and the cure clock starts. Walk on it in about 8 hours. Set light things on it in 24. Heavy in 48. Drive on it in about 72. By the weekend you've forgotten the slab was ever bare.

Where are Rhino Coatings located?
Rhino Coatings works throughout Idaho and Eastern Washington from two Idaho locations. The Coeur d'Alene headquarters serves North Idaho (Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum and Sandpoint) and Eastern Washington, including Spokane and Spokane Valley; call 208-500-1043. Do you install epoxy floor coatings?
No. We install a polyurea base coat with a UV-stable polyaspartic top coat instead of epoxy. It is a more abrasion-resistant top coat than epoxy, you can walk on it in about 8 hours and drive on it in about 72, so most floors are done in one day, and it does not yellow in sunlight.
How long does a floor coating take?
Most garages and other residential floors are finished in one day by our own crew: diamond grinding and crack repair, then the base coat with a flake or silica broadcast, then the top coat. You can walk on the floor in about 8 hours and park on it in about 72 hours.
How much does a floor coating cost?
It depends on the square footage, the condition of the slab and the finish you choose. We measure for free at your home and give you a fixed, written price, with no surprise charges on install day.
What does the warranty cover?
Every floor we coat, residential or commercial, carries a lifetime warranty against peeling, delamination and hot-tire pickup. It comes in writing, with a fixed price, before the crew arrives.
Can you coat old, cracked or pitted concrete?
Usually, yes. We diamond-grind the slab and fill cracks, control joints, spalls and pitting before any coating goes down, and a badly worn slab gets extra grinding and repair first. We also repair concrete on its own, without a coating.
Flake or silica: which finish should I choose?
Both have some grip. Flake is the usual choice for a dry garage or basement where the look matters most. Silica grips better when wet, so we recommend it for patios, walkways, pool decks and floors that get wet often. Both go over the same polyurea base coat and polyaspartic top coat.
